Two Swabs, Two Jobs — Everything You Need for Everyday Pet Care
70% isopropyl alcohol swabs for skin prep and cleaning, paired with povidone-iodine swabs for wound antisepsis — individually wrapped for hygiene and convenience.
Why This Combo
Pet care at home often calls for two different kinds of swabs, each suited to a different job:
1. Iodine swabs for cleaning and disinfecting wounds, cuts, and scrapes
2. Alcohol swabs for prepping skin before an injection, cleaning grooming tools, and wiping down the area around (not directly on) an injury
Keeping both on hand means you're prepared for more situations without needing to guess which one to reach for.
Pet Iodine Swabs — Povidone-Iodine
For Wound Cleaning & Antiseptic Care
Gentle, broad-spectrum antiseptic suitable for cleaning minor cuts, scrapes, and wounds
Individually wrapped for single, hygienic use
Snap-and-squeeze design releases the solution onto the cotton tip
How to Use:
1. Snap one end of the swab to release the liquid
2. Allow the iodine to flow into the cotton tip
3. Gently clean the affected area, working outward from the center of the wound
4. Use once and discard
Pet Alcohol Swabs — 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
For Skin Prep & Cleaning — Not for Open Wounds
Alcohol is excellent for general skin prep and cleaning tasks, but it can sting and irritate exposed tissue, so it's best kept away from open wounds. Good uses include:
1. Prepping the skin before an injection (such as at-home insulin shots)
2. Cleaning the skin around a nail-trimming area (not the exposed quick itself)
3. Disinfecting grooming tools, thermometers, and other pet care items
How to Use:
1. Snap one end of the swab to release the liquid
2. Allow the alcohol to flow into the cotton tip
3. Wipe the area to be prepped or the tool to be cleaned
4. Use once and discard
Important Safety Notes
For external use only
Avoid contact with eyes
Keep out of reach of children
Do not apply alcohol swabs directly to open wounds or broken skin — use the iodine swabs for wound cleaning instead
If a wound is deep, won't stop bleeding, shows signs of infection (redness, swelling, discharge, odor), or resulted from an animal bite, contact your veterinarian promptly rather than relying on home care alone
